Ann Bolton and Ken Turnbull host the Jazz Life programme on 94.9 Main FM Castlemaine. In the 7 August 2017 episode, Ann said:
This is the very talented group of contemporary Melbourne jazz musicians led by ade ishs on keyboard and Chelsea Allen on drums, supported by long-term members bassist Paul Bonnington and trumpeter Ee Shan Pang. … Tonight I’m going to play a gorgeous piece that I’ve quite gone mad about. It’s called Rainy Day. … I can’t get it out of my head.
In about half a month, The ishs/Allen Project will release a new album Stories Under the Sky. It has been nearly one year in the making, and we can’t wait to share it with whole world!
Come and enjoy the album launch concert on the release day, i.e. 17 August 2017 starting 8pm at Melbourne’s iconic Paris Cat (upstairs, “Parisian Loft”). Of course our new album will be available for sale, and this is your chance to be among the first to own a copy. Entry is $30 only, and you’re strongly recommended to book now!
There will also be a lucky draw for a ticket to Bali, Indonesia courtesy of Extra Travel Australia!

As part of our album pre-launch, we are playing at the First Friday Live (FFL) debut Jazz Winter Festival in Griffith, NSW. We feel honoured to be part of it!
I’m excited to tell you that The ishs/Allen Project have hit a milestone in the recording of our upcoming album Stories Under the Sky: we have finished recording! It is currently under post-production—the final touches to make it sound even more awesome. The core quartet of Chelsea, Paul, Ee Shan and myself have also been honoured to have woodwind maestro Lachlan Davidson on board to paint beautiful sonic layers in the album. Lachlan has worked with such luminaries as Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, and John Farnham among others. So, expect even more exquisiteness in this release.
My lovely wife Fety Aryani made a beautiful painting called Blue Sky, the same as the title of a tune that I wrote at the location depicted in the painting, that is Lake Marma in Murtoa, Victoria. The album cover artwork features this work of art. My favourite photographer Windu Kuntoro has also taken pictures of the band.
Now, the album can already be pre-ordered! If you do so, you will be instantly rewarded with a download of one its track called I’ll Wait Until You Arrive. It will be released on 17 August 2017.
The first time we played at Melbourne’s Paris Cat, we did it at their basement. In our last gigs, we had moved to upstairs. This time, we are back downstairs with our current (and original) line up. This will be guaranteed to give you an intimate atmosphere.
The show will take place on 4 May 2017, 8:00pm–10:00pm at 6 Goldie Pl, Melbourne CBD, AU. Ticket is $20 (regular)/$15 (concession). Bookings are strongly recommended.
There will be a special Sunday afternoon show that you should not miss out. Bassist extraordinaire Frank Di Sario and myself will play a very intimate concert at The Maven Room, a beautiful, luxurious, engaging space with ideal acoustics and raised theatre-style seating. The acoustics in this room is just amazing that you would feel like bathing in sound! We will be performing our originals as well as covers of timeless jazz tunes.
Entry is $20 only. There are only 30 seats, so better book now!
The ishs/Allen Project will be recording an awesome album soon, and you can take part in the making!
What benefit is there for you for doing that? You will be rewarded with exclusive perks! What you get depends on your support level. It can be a signed CD delivered to you before the release time. Or a liner note credit. Or how about having a BBQ with us? Want a concert in your home instead?
You will not lose any money. Your money goes to us only if we can raise at least AUD 4,500 before our deadline of 28 November 2016, 12:30pm AEDT (UTC+11). You can get these perks by making a pledge in the campaign by the deadline. So, hurry!
Come to these special trio gigs at the hills area in Melbourne south-east! We will be playing a mixture of my originals from my discography as well as previously unreleased materials with a few jazz standards thrown into the mix.
